High Schoolers in Bali Innovate Recycled Volleyball Nets
Green School Bali is a PreK-12 international school part of The Green Schools global network spanning Bali, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Green School Bali is located along the Ayung River near Abiansemal, Badung Regency, in Bali, Indonesia.
Ahead of the COP conference, the high school students organized an event to showcase innovative sustainable solutions. Among these, one student, Tiago, brought sustainability to his passion for volleyball.
Green School Bali students collect discarded fishing nets from the ocean.
Tiago’s solution aimed to collect discarded fishing nets that had accumulated in the ocean, thus trapping and harming marine biodiversity, and instead collecting them to be recycled into new volleyball nets.
The event was a success, showcasing other sustainable efforts from the high school students, including sustainable fashion, painting a mural for eco activism, and panel discussions for cleaning waterways.
Tiago’s efforts are a symbol for our continued partnership for global sustainability between youth and adult leaders alike. He sets an example for other high school students to follow suit and innovate for sports sustainability.
