There are various benefits to school aged children participating in school-based sports programs. Participation in sports has a positive impact on academic performance, as it fosters discipline, time management, and goal-setting skills. Sports have a significant impact on the mental well-being of youth, contributing to reduced stress, anxiety, and improved psychological well-being. Participation in sports provides valuable opportunities for personal growth, character development, and the acquisition of essential life skills.
The goals of this project was to first find a dataset to explore schools in the Chicago Public School system and what data might help us identify schools with little access to sports or sports facilities. Then to make visualizations using Tableau to identify trends within the data or see unique perspectives. Lastly, to use what we know to ask more questions and continue to help solve this issue.
